Our Story

Born on Schoolcraft,
Built for Detroit

Tom's Coney Island didn't start as a dream โ€” it started as a conviction. Back in 1970, Tom knew that a real Coney couldn't be rushed. The bun had to be split by hand, the chili had to simmer long enough to develop its signature depth, and the onions had to be finely diced, never minced.

For over five decades, this has been more than a restaurant. It's been a gathering place for auto workers on their break, families celebrating weekends, and anyone who knows that the best food doesn't need a fancy interior โ€” just real ingredients and honest effort.

We still split every bun the same way. We still simmer the chili with the same care. Detroit deserves nothing less.
